Sure do love those Christmas cookies...
It's time to bake the cookies again; bells and stars and Christmas trees and angels and shooting stars and, of course, Jolly Old Sant Nick.. Baking sugar cookies is one of my favorite things to do, it truly brings back my childhood,. though it also makes me wonder where my mother found the patience to undertake this task with five small children, all eager to help out. What a mess we must have made!
Honestly, it's taken me a few years to really get back in the holiday spirit but there's no stopping me now.
So it's time to make lists, buy ingredients, then somehow find the time to actually bake and frost these delicious cookies, but find the time I must because the truth is, frosting them is like a form of therapy for me. Dave will help me bake the sugar cookies, I find that part to be tedious and appreciate the help.
But then he'll be free to watch football as I sit at the dining room table, surrounded by cookies, colored pots of frosting and sugar crystals and candy bits, carefully painting each cookie as if it was going to be featured on a food magazine cover. My mom taught me that: to make each cookie mouthwateringly deliciouis. As a matter of fact, I took a picture of a plate full of my cookies last year and even though I think I already shared it with you, I'm going to post it again. It makes my mouth water!
