Today in Country Music, August 22.

On this day in 2011, Dierks Bentley revealed why he turned down a spot on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice saying, "I was flattered to be asked but at the end of the day…it's writing songs, making records, touring"

Today in 2007, Rascal Flatts visited the children's hospital at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and performed a short acoustic set for the kids and their families

And on this day in 1995 Brooks & Dunn's "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" went #1.

"You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" was co-written and recorded by Brooks & Dunn and released in June 1995 as the fourth single from their third studio album, Waitin' on Sundown. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Out of Brooks & Dunn's twenty Billboard Number One hits, this is the only one to feature Kix Brooks on lead vocals. All others featured Ronnie Dunn.

In the song the male narrator explains to his significant other that she has constantly been mistreating him; and although he still loves her, he ultimately comes to the realization that their relationship is in serious jeopardy and therefore contemplates ending it for good. Beforehand, the narrator presents his soon-to-be former lover an opportunity to give him a farewell kiss, informing her that she will regret the mistakes that she had made and will miss him after he leaves her.
