Today in country music, August 28.

On this day in 2011, The Band Perry's first headlining show in Nashville sold out all 2,300 tickets in just 20 minutes… Kimberly Perry said, "it's an amazing thing. We so much revere that (Ryman) stage."

Today in 2007, Cledus T. Judd released Boogity, Boogity – A Tribute To The Comedic Genius Of Ray Stevens.

Brad Paisley had reason to celebrate ... His cd Part II was certified platinum today in 2002.

And on this day in 1982, George Strait landed his very first #1 with "Fool Hearted Memory."

Fool Hearted Memory was  written by Byron Hill and Blake Mevis, and was George Strait's first #1 single (Billboard Magazine, 1982). The single was from George Strait's 1982 Strait from the Heart album on MCA Records and was included in the soundtrack of the feature film "The Soldier" on Embassy Films. The song won an ASCAP Award for being among the most performed country songs of 1982.
