George Strait breaks his own record in San Antonio.
It was back in September that George Strait revealed his final two-year U.S. tour would be called "The Cowboy Rides Away Tour" with dates through 2014. Over the weekend, Strait played his final 2013 date in San Antonio, Texas to a packed house of over 73,086 fans at the Alamodome with special guests Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert - breaking his own attendance record previously set in 2010. Back in March the show sold out in six minutes. Saturday nights show marked Strait’s eighth time at the venue since he opened the facility. The venue is actually affectionately known as “The House They Built for George.” So it’s only fitting that the show sold out in record time.
Strait opened the show telling the crowd, "I've been thinking about this show all month long, and I have to admit, I was a little nervous...but I'm not anymore!" He then played for over two hours ending the show with what else? "The Cowboy Rides Away."
