Just over a year ago I met a guy who i've only gotten to spend a limited amount of time with, but he's had a great impact on me.  I've met several country music stars over my career, none of which have had the effect on me that Darren Warren has.  I met him in early 2011 when I attended the St. Jude Country Cares seminar in Memphis.  You may have met Darren too, he's been to Terre Haute on several occasions, including our Summer Bash 2011 where in my opinion, he stole the show.

Everyone says Friday the 13th is never a good day, Jake Owen agrees with this!  He suffered some terrible luck recently while snow boarding in Crested Butte, Colorado during the BMI Songwriters festival.  Jake hit a 17 inch ice block, took a nasty spill which resulted in a broken collarbone!

Jake quickly took to twitter to tell his side of the story, "Just broke my collarbone. Guess I charged this mountain a little too hard." Jake then told Storme Warren, host of GAC’s Headline Country who was covering the event, "Man, it wasn't like I was doing anything crazy. That's why this is such a freak accident but the reality is if you’re not falling, you’re not learning."

With an injury like this, after a meeting in Nashville with Dr. Thomas Dovan, Jake was scheduled for surgery today (January 17th) to repair his collarbone.

Now a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to have my mug show up on the kiss cam at an Indianapolis Colts football game.   I made it through that experience without a problem....However, same can't be said for a young man who attempted to take it a little further than just a kiss.  Check it out!

Could Carrie Underwood and her hockey playing husband Mike Fisher be making plans to expand their family?  Carrie stated shortly after they exchanged thieir vows that she wanted to be a young(er) mother, Carrie is about to turn 29 this year.  She even made a pact with some of her friends that they would all plan to get pregnant around the same time, however I have no report on the current status of her friends!  However, one friend states that Carrie has recently quit drinking which would make one wonder....is Carrie preparing her body to get pregnant....or could she already be pregnant??  hmmmm.....inquiring minds want to know.....

Well word is getting out through the typical celebrity gossip websites that country music star Rodney Atkins was arrested last month after he allegedly attempted to smother his wife with a pillow.

Court documents were filed in Williamson County stating that Rodney's wife Tammy called 911 at 7:47am the morning of November 21st.  Tammy claimed that the two had been arguing throughout the night when Rodney turned violent.

According to the police report Tammy is alleging that Rodney tried to smother her with a pillow, then grabbed her by the face and threw her down a hallway of their home.

The police report also stated that Tammy insisted that Rodney "had been drinking alcohol all night and was intoxicated."

The worst part of the whole report is where Tammy is saying the whole incident took place in front of the couple's 10 year old son.

While I was broadcasting from Superior Auto in Brazil on Tuesday I noticed this really cherry ride!  A 1972 Dodge Champion motorhome!  The possibilities for this ride are endless!  Think about it...what if you were in a band? If you like to hunt?  Heck even if the wife/girlfriend throws you out, you'll have a place to crash!  It has a 413 cubic inch V8 powering this fine ride with a new edelbrock carb!  Just think...a little TLC and you could be riding in style!  Considering it's almost 40 years old, I think it's in pretty good shape! It comes complete with a ktichenette, bathroom w/shower, generator and it can even sleep up to 7 people!

As an Indiana State University Alum it is great to see the resurgence of the Sycamore Football team, the support they've begun to get back from the community, as well as some attention on a national level!  Sophomore tailback Shakir Bell has been named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America Team, announced today by the national organization!  Shakir is one of just two sophomores that were named an All-American in 2011.

Standing at 5 foot 7 and weighing in at 185 pounds, Shakir ranked number 1 among rushers during the regular season of the FCS.  Carrying the ball 230 times throughout the season equaling 1,670 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Sycamores.  Those stats averaged out to 151.8 yards per game or about 7.3 per carry!  Shakir was also named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year, logging 4 200+ yard games throughout the season helping ...

It seems a few families in California are lucky to be unhurt when an experiment for the show Mythbusters went horribly wrong!  The Alameda County Sheriff's Department reports that hosts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage were working on a myth to see how effective a cannon is when it fires other things than just a standard cannonball.  However, it order to do this they first had to test it with the real thing!

The original plan had the cannonball landing, harmlessly, in a nearby hill.  That is when something went wrong the cannonball which was traveling at over 1,000 feet per second sailed over the hill which bordered Camp Parks Military Firing Reservation and into the neighboring town of Dublin.  It was in town where the cannonball crashed through two seperate homes before finally coming to rest inside someone's minivan!  Talk about a rude awakening!

If you've been wondering why we haven't heard any new music from Tim McGraw in the last few years, well it's been because he's been embroiled in a legal battle with his label Curb Records, who he has been signed with since 1997.

The legal dispute began last May, when the head of Curb Records, Mike Curb, filed a lawsuit against Tim McGraw, alleging he turned in his latest, still-unreleased album, 'Emotional Traffic,' too early. Tim counter-sued one week later, accusing the label (according to Nashville's Tennessean) of "involuntary servitude" by releasing several greatest hits albums to prolong his contract, which stipulated waiting 18 months between new studio albums. Now according the Associated Press Tim McGraw has won a court hearing today that will allow him to record music for another record label while his lawsuit against Curb Records continues.

Looks like my wishes have been answered, as there are rumors of Alabama going back out on tour for the first time since their farewell tour in 2004!

After a return to the airwaves earlier this year with the monster hit 'Old Alabama' with Brad Paisley, this has evidently sparked the desire to head back out on the road for Jeff, Teddy & Randy!  "We're talking about doing maybe 20 shows next year," founding member Jeff Cook tells Bradenton.com. The Country Music Hall of Fame members ended their farewell tour in 2004 in the capital of North Dakota, which is a decision he still regrets. "I never felt it was right that a band called Alabama should end their career in Bismarck," he notes. "It should have ended in Birmingham or Huntsville." (Theboot.com)

Congratulations are in order for Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland!  She very quietly tied the knot with her boyfriend of 2 years, Justin Miller, at a small sunset ceremony in Tennessee on Saturday!

Justin Miller who is a former model is now an entrepreneur, and if he looks kinda familiar it's becuase he appeared in the video for a big 2006 hit titled 'Want To' he was also by Jennifer's side at the recent CMA Awards.

Don't look for the couple to take a honeymoon right away as Jennifer is performing Wednesday along with pop star Lady Gaga at the Live Grammy Nomination Concert as well as hosting the CMA Country Christmas Special which you can catch on Thursday on ABC @ 9!
